For those new to FHS and conferences, here are come common questions we get at the first one:

Do you make appointments?   No, it is open conferences, show up whenever you want Is it arena style? No, teachers are in their rooms during this time Can you meet with any teacher you want?   Yes, any and all teachers are waiting to meet with you. Their may be a line at some teachers rooms, but feel free to see other teachers at that time. Do the students come with?

It is recommended that your student comes with to give their perspective and hear the conversation, but it is not required.

With the introduction and greater use of technology and frequent communication with families/guardians, FHS teachers have noticed conference attendance has declined in recent years. With the emphasis of personalized learning, availability of grades for parents through

Family Web Access and Infinite Campus, and multiple modes of communication used by FHS teachers to communicate student progress the staff to a deeper look at how Parent Teacher Conferences can look different, yet collaborate in partnership with parents for students to succeed.
Over the last two years a staff committee reviewed current practices, researched alternate conference structures and surveyed FHS parents. We identified benefits of our current structure being face-to-face communication, flexibility for parents to drop in and consistency of knowing when the school will hold conferences. Yet, we found that we weren’t meeting all families needs. Our attendance continued to decline due to numerous reasons; technology and real-time grades on Campus, parents work schedules, coaches on the fields, and parents having multiple activities to attend on the same day.
In addition to the above dates and times, teachers will have Office Hours throughout the trimester to communicate with parents by email, phone calls, or face-to-face academic progress meetings. If you are unavailable to meet with a classroom teacher during the above times, please reach out to the teacher personally by email or phone.
