SENIOR ATHLETICS SCHOLARSHIPS AND CRITERIA


Athlete of the Year:

This award goes to the senior boy and girl 'Athlete of the Year.'  The following criteria has been set up for attaining this award:
1) Selection is made by a vote of head coaches.
2) The winner must be a senior.
3) The winner must participate in two (2) sports during his/her senior year. In voting, coaches must consider personal character and overall academic achievement of each candidate as well as athletic participation and achievement.

Oscar J. Lubke Award:
This award is presented to the senior boy whose qualities of sportsmanship, leadership, unselfishness, and pride in his contribution to and participation in athletics, school, and community activities exemplifies those standards which Oscar J. Lubke sought in youth and which he himself excelled. Mr. Lubke taught and coached at FHS for many years and is a posthumous charter member of the FHS Hall of Fame.

Leslie Lindell Award:
Leslie Lindell served FHS as principal from 1957 through 1980. Mr. Lindell was an excellent educator and a strong supporter of all extra-curricular activities. This award is presented to a senior girl who exemplified high qualities of leadership, sportsmanship, and scholarship.

Tom Rolloff Scholar/Athlete Award:
Tom Rolloff served FHS as principal from 1980 through 1996. Dr. Rolloff was also an excellent educator and a strong supporter of all extra-curricular activities. This award is presented to a senior girl and boy who meet the following criteria:
1) Participated in eight seasons of athletics in grades 9-12
2) Must be a two-year letterwinner
3) Must be in the top 15% of class

Louis Schmitz Memorial Scholarship:
The Louis Schmitz Memorial Scholarship is a separate award. Information, application, and deadline can be found at www.louisschmitzfoundation.org
